Activities conducted by our Organisation
Estblishment of ‘Baal Prabodhini’ Organisation
There was a time, when competition of marks lead the school going children towards depression. Upliftment of these minds was essential.
Shri. Chandrakant Thakurdas spent 36 years of his life doing research on ‘Human Mind’ and addressed people through his vivechans, on how to achieve ‘Stress free life’. Many adults expressed the positive change in their life due to this vivechan. Hence Shri. Chandrakant Thakurdas believed that young minds also can be transformed and educational development can be achieved by providing them with proper guidance through playfully. This will ensure that these children do not go towards negativity or depression. Bhau observed that these children had lost interest in studies due to unnecessary pressure of getting good marks. The key to bring about positive changes in these young minds is to make them believe in themselves, and instill confidence in their hearts that they can also do it on their own by following certain simple technique. ‘Learning Skills’ curriculum was designed on these simple techniques. This curriculum is taken in schools for seventh standard students, who are just entering their adolescence. Because the capacity of grasping as well as the physical, cognitive and psychological growth in adolescents is maximum. This thought inspired Bhau to create a registered organisation ‘Baal Prabodhini’ in 2009.
The curriculum of ‘Baal Prabodhini’
The curriculum consists of five basic principles Planning, Concentration, Listening, Reading and Writing. Guidance is provided through various experiments, models, interactive sessions, colourful charts, interesting and illustrative games, thus making learning easy and fun. The curriculum does not include any of the school subjects. Hence supports all the boards like State, Central, IB, ICSE or CBSE etc. Honorary teachers of ‘Baal Prabodhini’ take these sessions once every week in schools. These honorary teachers need not be teachers by profession. They just need to be passionate about the future of young generation, because our motto is ‘Moulding the Future Generation’.
Our Journey
In 2009, the first year started with 5 teachers and 5 Marathi medium schools reaching 250 students. Till date our Organisation has reached thousands of students through our trained teachers. The students from Mumbai city area and suburbs, Pune, Goa and some regions of Konkan have received guidance from ‘Baal Prabodhini’.

Self Study Skills
Get the trainee teachers in a specific mindset
Baal Prabodhini has a totally different outlook towards the ‘Teaching Profession’. Trained graduates work in various educational organisations. But the teachers trained at Baal Prabodhini have altogether a different mindset and a unique approach towards teaching.
Requirement for enrolling
The only requirement of participants in Baal Prabodhini teacher’s training program is that, the person should have a passion for the betterment of school going children and their overall growth. The person does not have to teach anything from school text book or any school subject. Rather the person has to guide the students how to learn these school subjects and our teachers are trained to provide this guidance. Baal Prabodhini teachers come from different walks of life. We have Engineers, Bankers, Business men, Lawyers, Chartered Accountants, Professors, Sports persons and also homemakers.
Mindset required for this training
The training is totally free of cost. This training is based on various learning skills consisting of 15 lessons which are taken through experiments and interactive sessions. The thought process behind each lesson and its effect on the students brings about change in the approach of students towards studies. The trainee teachers understand how this has to be achieved through our course. They are impressed with this unique style of teaching. And they are eager to work for this social cause and to experience the satisfaction. This is the distinctive feature of our training. The honorary teachers get into the right mindset before changing the mindset of the students. Hence the journey of shaping the young minds by these trained teachers is smooth and successful. ‘Moulding the future generation’ which is the motto of our organisation becomes their goal.
Format and stages of the training
This training is conducted for two days, each day consisting of six hours by expert and experienced teachers of the organisation. Demo lessons are conducted to ascertain if our training method has been grasped by the trainees. The shortcomings are cleared by our expert teachers. All this training and demo is interactive and takes 4 days to complete. The last step is fine-tuning, to give minor but specific information. Details of how to connect with the students and establish relationships with the school teachers as well as the Principals taking care of the code of conduct laid by Baal Prabodhini are specified in this last session. Planning of this training program is done well in advance and taking into consideration the working class. Hence all the five days are either weekends or public holidays.
Educational Material
The educational material required to teach in schools is distributed free of cost to these trained teachers. This includes attractive charts, models, some handouts, educative games, chalk and duster with a bag having Baal Prabodhini logo to carry this material. Also the booklet of the syllabus is provided.

Teacher's Training
About 10th standard Educational and Personality Development Camps
Each 10th standard student would be an independent young personality in the future. Students have to strike a balance between the available opportunities in various diverse fields and to get admission in the field of their choice. Thus, knowing their own capabilities and shortcomings, setting a goal and taking right steps to achieve it, shaping our own self without getting pressurized or stressed is essential today. Hence to guide these students’ ‘Baal Prabodhini’ takes two days camp. The syllabus includes effective educational material, games, attractive charts which help to imbibe values in the students. These session help to motivate students. The students after going through these sessions know what are his plus point and where he is lagging. He also starts working on his lagging point, which is helpful in his journey of entering a new world after leaving the safe and secured atmosphere of their school.
Purpose of Camps
Baal Prabodhini started guiding students of seventh standard by providing them with ‘Self Study Skills’ from 2009 and received positive response (appreciation) from students, teachers, Principals as well as parents, in a span of short time.
Baal Prabodhini realized that the students of tenth standard also need sanskaras and a thought process as they would be leaving the secured environment of school and entering a very unsecured and luring college environment. Because the chances of these teenagers getting distracted doubles during this transition. And it becomes too difficult to bring back a student back on track once a wrong path is chosen. Hence the students need to be alerted before they leave their school. To help the students in this regard, a syllabus ‘Educational and Personality Development’ was developed by Shri. Chandrakant Thakurdas, which has a base of in-depth research on Human Mind.
Why Guidance is necessary?
Students are confused at times after 10th standard, while selecting their field (Career) and the related subjects. The core reason for this is that they are unaware of their own self. A session ‘Knowing yourself’ is taken in this camp to help them understand their own capacities and limitations. One cannot succeed just by dreaming about the future. To make the dreams into a reality, one needs to have a proper planning, a definite goal and a decision-making capability to achieve these goals. This awareness and proper guidance towards developing these skills is provided. The Adolescence and youth are stages when most students distance themselves from their parents. Having suitable company is necessary to lead a successful life. Else one may stray into a wrong path. To help students maintain a proper balance between family members and their friends, they are introduced with a subject ‘Your own world’ in the camp.
This course was introduced in many schools for 10th standard students by conducting camps for two days. The secondary teachers and the students too gave an overwhelming response for these camps. Till date Baal Prabodhini has conducted camps in many schools which has reached to thousands of students. This camp gives them a definite direction towards their educational future and thus helps them decide and achieve their goal in life. Students are made aware of their strengths, capabilities and limitations which help them face any challenges in life with a stress-free mind.
Such camps are conducted in big cities like Mumbai, Pune and suburban areas as well as in some of the remote schools of Goa and Konkan region and in Tribal Ashram schools, orphanages etc.

Personality Development
1. Association with Seva Sahayog Organisation
Purpose
Seva Sahayog organisation approached Baal Prabodhini for cooperation as they were impressed by their work and positive changes in the Adolescent children. The honorary members of this organisation have been working for betterment of adolescents since many years. They organise ‘Development Program for Adolescents / Teenagers’ for the children form lower classes of society. Their aim is to make these teenagers aware of their own self and to give them proper guidance to lead a good life. The teenagers are getting drifted due to the changing social conditions, deteriorating family ties and various media outlets. This has an adverse and long lasting effect mostly on these teenagers. Hence Seva Sahayog suggested inclusion of some of the topics of Baal Prabodhini in their ‘Kishori Vikas’ meaning ‘Development of teenage girls’. Thus Baal Prabodhini and Seva Sahayog worked in cohesion to guide the teenaged girls on the right path in life. Baal Prabodhini trained the team of Seva Sahayog members.
Educational guidance for 6th/ 7th standard
The trained members of Seva Sahayog carry out the activities for teenagers in Tribal regions, Orphanages, Settlements of Labourers, Low economic classes etc. Baal Prabodhini provided the training and educational material for these activities free of cost. Thus these two organisations joined hands for betterment of the teenagers. Baal Prabodhini’s educational course is provided to the lower strata of society to bring about educational development in their children.
Educational and Personality Camp for the students of 9th/10th standard
Seva Sahayog tries to bring students of 9th / 10th standard from Tribal regions, Labourer’s settlement etc. under one roof. Two days camp for ‘Educational and Personality Development’ is conducted for these students by trained honorary teachers of Baal Prabodhini.
Guidance to teenagers for better community building
Seva Sahayog activists keep observing the students from lower strata of the Society. Their aim is to help these students have a bright future. Easily available information on Social Media platforms through mobile attract these young minds, which can be disastrous. The young girls and boys can get distracted by the word ‘Love’ without knowing the real meaning or may also be cheated. To caution them about it, Seva Sahayog once again approached Baal Prabodhini. A lecture on ‘Attraction, friendship and love’ was arranged by Baal Prabodhini trained teachers for the honorary activists of Seva Sahayog and the meaning and interrelation of these words was explained.
2. Guidance for the teachers under training at B. Ed College, Airoli, Navi Mumbai
Purpose
A teacher or (Guru) is a friend, guide and philosopher. So before accepting the noble profession of a teacher, a person should exemplify virtues like compassion, humility and integrity serving as a living model for their students.
Almost every person from diverse fields gives credit to their teacher or teachers for inspiring them and shaping their lives and personality. This shows how important a teacher is. Thus a teacher herself or himself should strive to acquire that level of integrity and honesty first to touch other’s lives & make a positive difference in their lives. This would be possible only if the teacher realizes that the profession of a teacher is not just a mean of livelihood but it is a commitment towards the society. Only if these types of teachers are made available the future generations can be moulded accordingly.
Nature of Work
A workshop of two days was organized which guided these B.Ed. students with subjects like Planning, Concentration, Listening, Reading, Writing and importance of all the school subjects, to achieve the above purpose.
Outcome of the workshop
The Professors as well as the Principal of this college personally attended these workshops. They were impressed with the educational values provided in the workshop by Baal Prabodhini. They expressed their belief that, these future teachers will definitely succeed in shaping the children when equipped with such values along with B.Ed. course. 50 teachers were given guidance and 50 educational sets were distributed on cost free basis.
3. Guidance at Sujata Foundation for differently abled children, Navi Mumbai
Baal Prabodhini course is effective and helpful to all children as it is based on research of human mind. A student needs to concentrate to listen, read or write to be able to complete education at any stage. Some students of this organisation were visually impaired and some were slow learners. But when these students were presented with the subject ‘Planning’ along with an experiment, they participated enthusiastically. They seemed to understand that time is precious and should make use of available time constructively avoiding wastage of time. Simple language, experiments, attractive educative material, the way of explaining to these students putting them at ease had a positive effect on these differently abled children. Hence this was a satisfying and pleasant experience for Baal Prabodhini.
